Korean Style Rice

  • You’ll Need:
    Rice cooker
    Asian-style sticky rice
    Water

  • Instructions:
1-Wash hands thoroughly.

2-Take out inner metal bowl from rice cooker.

3-Fill metal bowl with desired amount of rice. For two to three people, fill the bowl with about 2 inches of rice.

4-Add water to rice until there is about two inches more water than rice in the bowl.

5-Wash the rice by hand by kneading and squeezing the rice in the water.

6-Drain the water from the bowl, by slowly tipping the bowl to one side, and holding fingers slightly apart, against the side of the bowl. The water will drain off, but your fingers should keep the rice kernels in the bowl.

7-Repeat Steps 5 and 6 at least four more times.

8-Place one hand on top of the wet rice, and lightly press down.

9-Add water until it hits the first set of knuckles on your hand.

10-Place the metal bowl back in the rice cooker, and press down on the "cook" button so that it lights up.

11-When the button pops up, signaling the rice is cooked, take a plastic spoon and stir the cooked rice.

12-Close the rice cooker, leave it plugged in so that it is in "keep warm mode," and let it sit for 10 minutes.

13-The Korean-style rice is now ready to eat.
